Flintco Hires Long-time Coloradan to Lead Denver Office

Flintco is pleased to announce that Steve Eikanger is joining Flintco effective October 15th as the Vice President, Area Manager in Denver. Steve left his former employer of 21 years – GE Johnson Construction Company – where he most recently served as Director of Integrated Services for the opportunity to join Flintco. We are very fortunate to have him.

A graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering, Steve joined GE Johnson two years later in Colorado and moved quickly up the ranks: Project Manager, Preconstruction Manager and Director before leading the Integrated Services Department. His diverse portfolio of construction and preconstruction experience in Cultural, K-12, Higher Education, Public, Healthcare, Office, and Hospitality/Resort/Residential runs throughout the Western Slope (Gunnison, Vail and Aspen) and the Front Range, which includes Denver and Colorado Springs.

A self-described “go-to-guy for tech,” Steve served on the advisory board for Assemble Systems, the same Building Information Modeling software Flintco has long championed. He also led the adoption of Lean practices including the Last Planner System.

“Even though we’ve been building for thousands of years there is so much opportunity to improve,” Steve said. “I wasn’t going to join another company that didn’t have that same drive to improve our industry. Flintco has it.”

Steve is active in our industry and in his community. He is on the Advisory Board for the University of Colorado Denver’s Construction Engineering and Management program and is collaborating with faculty studying the effects of altitude and extreme weather on construction workers. Their research includes the current construction of a new visitors center atop Pike’s Peak at 14, 115 ft. He is also a past Chair of the Board of Trustees and current Board Member for “Envida” a Colorado Springs non-profit that provides “door through door” transportation and home care services. Steve has lived in Colorado since 1997, most recently in Colorado Springs with his wife and two high-school age daughters.
