Norman Central Library
This new 78,642-square-foot project is a three-story, modern library with special features that will inspire learning at all ages. Features include a market place, reading nooks, study spaces, conference rooms, and state-of-the-art hearing loops for the hearing-impaired. An essential hub for the community, the new Norman Public Library features an intricate steel stair with glazed railing that winds from the first to the third floor as the focal point. The exterior features clerestory roofs with a facade of extensive curtain wall, metal panels, roman brick, and stucco along with an outdoor reading grove and two gardens. This project has a green roof and is conditioned using a geothermal field drilled under the planned parking lot.
